That’s right folks, and I’ve never claimed to be.
Here are 3 reasons why I don’t eat 100% Raw or Fully Raw.
#1 It’s Not about Perfectionism.
Let’s face it, the raw food community can be pretty one sided when it comes to our diets. If your claim to fame is raw food, then you had better never EVER eat anything cooked! I’m kidding, but that’s the way it seems sometimes.
I’m not going to sit here and say that any person can or should never eat another cooked food item again, and if they do, their health will go downhill. That’s just not true.
The truth is, the more raw, fresh, ripe, whole, organic fruits and veggies we eat, the better our health will be, and the more we will want to eat them. But being perfect isn’t the goal. Having better health and happiness in our lives is. So if that means you eat 50% raw, or 98% raw, that’s awesome.
I started this journey on the 80-10-10 Diet and have progressed from there. It’s a great place to start, and then go on to tailor your diet to your personal needs, lifestyle, and wants.
Some days I do eat Fully Raw, and some days I don’t. Most days I eat about 80-90% raw and am feeling awesome because of it.
Don’t get discouraged because you can’t do this 100%. Do what YOU can do, and what makes YOU feel awesome inside and out!
#2 It’s Not Sustainable For Everyone.
Let’s face it, eating raw foods 100% of the time isn’t exactly the easiest thing in the world. Is it super hard, NO. But there are some challenges that go along with maintaining a Fully Raw lifestyle and diet.
Here are some challenges to staying 100% Raw:
– Socializing/Eating Out
– Always having enough ripe fruit
– Variety of fruits in the winter
– Quality of produce in your local area year-round
– Lack of variety for dinner meal (salads)
– Cost of produce in local area
– Lack of family support
Eating some cooked, vegan (plant) foods, especially at dinner time can be a lot more enjoyable, convenient, cost effective, and keep your social life and health thriving!
#3 It’s Not Necessary.
You won’t be compromising much on your health by not eating 100% Raw for dinner, because high carb, cooked, vegan (plant) foods are super healthy and easy to digest.
You will still reap all the health benefits you are looking for such as:
Disease Prevention and Healing
No More Cravings
Healthier Skin & Nails
Less Colds & Flu
So next time you think of Happy To Be Raw, remember that I AM Happy to be eating as many raw foods as I can, but I’m not perfect, and you don’t have to be either. 😀
What I Recommend:
One of the changes I have made to my diet is to incorporate more High Carbohydrate, Cooked, Vegan Dinners. I get motivation and inspiration from the Raw Till 4 Diet, created by Freelee The Banana Girl.
