For all you Avocado lovers!
Avocados are creamy, delicious, and nutritious! In order to properly indulge in this beautiful fruit, learn how to cut an avocado like a pro and adorn your meals with this incredible food!
Dedicated to my friend Sarah W for her awesomely scary avocado cutting skills. 😉
The following pictures motivated me to make this tutorial:
(viewer discretion is advised due to strong violence against an avocado)
Buy an avocado.
Avocados are usually green and hard when you buy them at the store. If they are not ripe, let them sit out for a day or two on your kitchen counter to ripen. When they are ripe they will turn darker in color (dark brownish) and will be slightly soft to the touch and give when you squeeze them very gently. You can store them in the refrigerator to slow down the ripening process once they are ripe until you are ready to eat them.
When ripe, and you are ready to eat it…
Get cutting board and knife.
Begin slicing the avocado length-wise all the way around. Don’t slice your hand!
(you will feel the pit in the center, use it as a guide while cutting)
Gently twist with your hands and pull the two halves apart.
Remove the pit.
Check out the video below 🙂
Using a spoon, gently and carefully trace around the edge inside the skin and scoop it out.
EXTRA TIP: You can also score the inside of the avocado into cubes while still in the skin (gently so as not to cut through the skin) and scoop out ready to eat cubes of avocado flesh.
Take your knife and slice the avocado in even slices in any desired thickness.
Do the same for the other half of the avocado.
Add to your favorite dish or salad 🙂 Delish!
We love avocado on raw tacos, in salads, as guacamole, or just by itself!
